....Olusegun Adeniyi and da-Costa Adeoye just retuned from Ghana. They were in Ghana for a Summer Art and Music programme at the Village of Hope. A group of 16 creative artists put together by CAV were in village for a week to create Art with the kids in diverse means of expression ranging from Visual Art to Music, Dance and Craft. It provided the participants a chance for intellectual interaction, cultural exchange and visual expression. It was a rare opportunity for artists from different cultures and continent of the world to come together to help kids unlock their potentials.

Olusegun Adeniyi and da-Costa Adeoye the great two Nigeria ambassadors in the team, were able to connect with the children’s aspiration to create Art and they exposed them to a unique form of Art from Nigeria, ADIRE. They offered a unique artistic concepts, introduced new visual art techniques and media that stimulate the interest of kids to create differs art form. At the event in Ghana, the two represent a positive brand, creative ingenuity and abundant talents of the country, Nigeria.

The two of a kind share same passion, the love for the kids and Art. They are both artist of unequal passion for Art, to help the young ones harness their talents, and put them on a path to reach their full potentials. They build art awareness, sharpen basic art skills, and ignite the creative energy in children. They both share from the philosophy of the Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso; “Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”. Oluwasegun and Adeoye choose to fill the gap, to help the young ones with their God’s given talents and potentials, build their creative lives and give them form.

The above quoted texts constantly spoken by Mai; the founder of CAV was an influence and motivation on these two friends to do more with the kids at the Village of Hope. Mai kind gestures and selfless acts is an ignition for every one in the team to give their heart into the project. She is such a humanitarian with the drive to change the world. She offers with the team an art engagement for the kids which are a powerful means of expression and therapy.

Every child has some artistic ability and with the right environment and guidance they can discover and harness their inner creative genius. Their artistic abilities awaiting expression can be tapped as a therapy to help cope with crisis, and achieve mental and emotional stability.

NOSTALGIA REFLECTION - AN ARTISTIC ADVENTURE

I uploaded an album on facebook recently; my intent was to spur the viewers into a nostalgia reflections. It was named NOSTALGIA FEFLECTION. The kids in this album came to meet me during an event I attended at my local church few Sundays ago. They requested to grace my lens… I took series of pictures, and then decided to turn the pieces into black and white with an old school effect.

For me every experience is an artistic adventure. I learnt from this experience how little act of insensitivity can disconnect us from magnitude flow of creativity and mar a cherished friendship and memories. This experience launched me into another creative exploration. I can’t just have enough… These kids don’t have facebook accounts; I hope someday they will get to see these paparazzi work per excellence. You can have a feel of the album on the link below:

I will like to quote from Michael Jackson’s acceptance speech for his Grammy Legend Award in March 1993, “The magic, the wonder, the mystery, and the innocence of a child’s heart, are the seeds of creativity that will heal the world… What we need to learn from children isn’t childish. Being with them connects us to the deeper wisdom of life which is ever present….”

Children have always been my greatest source of inspiration. That is why I have dedicated a huge some part of my life to putting smile on these little angel faces and turning their play time into creative engagements. I am so passionate about helping kids harnessing their God’s given talents and inspire an artistic future in a child. Art can change life; it is both a powerful means of expression and therapy. @ CHILDREN’S ART VILLAGE, GHANA – 2011

The Summer Art and Music programme held recently in Ghana was a huge success. It was a great opportunity for a group of creative artists to create Art with the kids in diverse means of expression ranging from Visual Art to Music, Dance and Craft. It provided the participants a chance for intellectual interaction, cultural exchange and visual expression. It was a rare opportunity for artists from different cultures and continent of the world to come together to help kids unlock their potentials.

My friend, da-Costa and I had a fulfilled moments and grace to connect with the children’s aspiration to create Art and the children experienced a unique form of Art from Nigeria. We believe that with our talent cum with our passion, zeal, and drive we can change the world. I’ve always been giving my best to the course of Art.

I am so grateful to Mai for providing me with such a platform to nurture new talents. I respect her for her great understanding of individual differences and her ability to accommodate people irrespective of their race, cultural background and social status.
