AISEN ART COMPETITION 2016

Last Saturday, I was on the panel of judges for the Art competitions for the AISEN member schools. It was a great initiative of advancing Visual Art education in Nigeria.  I was impressed  by the superlative artistic rendering of visual expression by the participants. It was an indication that art has indeed improved in our schools.  Kudos to the art teachers. Sincerely,  this is what I am always want to be part of, a platform where artistic talent of a child is encouraged to flourish and maximised.
I am passionate about helping the children to harness their intrinsic talent, raising and inspiring next generation of creative leaders... I support art education for every child.

Every Child is an Artist

Apart from my passion for teaching Visual art, I engage the children in artistic activities for the enormous benefits of art education for their social and intellectual development (you can read my e-book on the importance of art published at:  http://insea.org/docs/2014.17/regions/Adeniyi2016.pdf  to learn more)

Last summer break, I had great time with my Prince watching him expressing himself with colours. He actually created some masterpieces using acrylic paint on canvas. Our young artist usually create his art works with great enthusiasm and express himself freely not minding the onlookers...

Enjoy the video!

MY FIRST YEAR OF TEACHING IGCSE ART AND DESIGN AT CBA

My love for teaching the Visual Art was taken to a new level at CBA teaching IGCSE Art and Design. I have embraced the Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design syllabus with great enthusiasm because it accommodates a wide range of abilities, materials and resources, and allows the different skills of the art teacher to be fully exploited. The syllabus is designed to encourage a range of skills, it stimulates aesthetic awareness, knowledge and critical understanding of art, and provides opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills.

Creative impulses are present in all human beings, but for one to excel in art, this creative instinct has to be cultivated, nourished and exercised so that it can be stimulated in others. One of my greatest strength as an art educator is that I connect effortlessly with the children and fuel their aspiration to create art through differ platform of artistic engagements.

I am so passionate about helping kids harnessing their God’s given talents and to inspire the next generation of artists, creative individuals and art lovers.

My students were entered for series of art competition and we won some. One of them is the British Council Your World Video Competition. Here is a link to the results of the Your World competition:

It is noteworthy to mention that CBA brought out the best in me. Before the session came to a close I have improved my skill in video editing and you could see some of my edited videos for CBA at: www.vimeo.com/calebbritishacademy

During the session, my e-book on the importance of art was published at:  http://insea.org/docs/2014.17/regions/Adeniyi2016.pdf

Our school’s participation in the 2016 UNESCO Arts Education Week was also published on International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) website at http://insea.org/advocacy/intl_arts_ed_week

I also participated in the virtual art exhibition organized by International Art Education Association (InAEA) and International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) in celebration of the 2016 UNESCO International Arts Education Week.  The virtual art exhibition includes works from more than 25 countries, with more than 200 works submitted! You can find the virtual exhibition at http://www.inaea.org/ArtEducationWeek2016/index.html

To God be the glory! My first session with Caleb British Academy culminated with triple awards; Teacher of Distinction Award (with a special gift), Art and Craft Club Award and Green Schools Club Award. Many thanks to the management, my HOD and other member of staff for their support throughout the 2015/2016 Academic Session.

During the session I received two of the United States YALI certificates as #africa4her and Green champion for my Go green works and girl child empowerment.

It was a great session for me and I glorify God for this. I believe it takes two great passions to be an outstanding teacher, a passion for their subject and a passion for teaching. I have demonstrated my passion for both which are evident in my works during the last academic session. I look forward to do more and achieve more this new session, so God help me (Amen)

UNESCO INTERNATIONAL ARTS EDUCATION WEEK CELEBRATION AT CALEB BRITISH ACADEMY, NIGERIA

It has been a wonderful experience for me teaching Art and Design at Caleb British Academy. I am proud to say that CBA supports the Arts for wholesome learning experience. During this year UNESCO International Arts Education Week, CBA celebrated it in grand style with an exhibition of students’ artworks and a painting contest.

The Art exhibition was a great revelation of impeccable talent at CBA, not surprisingly the viewers were engrossed by the students’ creative expressions and artistic renditions. The artists themselves also derived an amazing amount of satisfaction at seeing their works displayed and admired. The winning painting will be published on the cover page of the school’s new Sketch pad.

young ones will need to be inventive, resourceful and imaginative. And the best way to foster that creativity is through arts education. Arts education is a key to training generations capable of reinventing the world that they have inherited. At CBA, we are raising the standard of art education. It is fulfilling teaching Art and Design at CBA.

I remain committed to the cause of inspiring and championing the next generation of artists, art lovers and creative future leaders in Nigeria and beyond.

The report of the Arts Education week at CBA  has been uploaded on the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) website. Here is the link:
