2014 NNPC/CHEVRON JOINT VENTURE NATIONAL ART COMPETITION

I am still in the business of supporting Art from the grassroots, making effort to unearth the hidden talents in my community and advocating for visual aesthetic. I believe in the creative future of our children, and that’s why I teach Art.

On October 15th, I was at the 2014 NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture National Art Competition for Nigerian Secondary School students’ award ceremony in Lagos.
My Art protégé, Ayankola Olatomiwa Ridwan, a student of the Baptist Boys High School (Mission) is one of the 20 finalists selected from the 641 entries with the theme; Nigeria at 100 (Centenary Celebration).

I am so honoured to have presented a winner this year. I was at the 2010 edition of the Art contest final to commemorate the Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary; and this year edition when Nigeria is celebrating centenary anniversary.  This event is a “world cup” to be for all Art teachers.

I have been preserving the history of BBHS on www.baptistboyshighschool.blogspot.com and account of our participation has been updated. Please log on for details and more photos.

On Monday 10th of November, 2014, I and Tomiwa were featured on OGTV live programme, NEW DAWN/OTUN OJO. Here is a link to watch the video online:  http://youtu.be/t-KyhbFaEto

It’s really good that you are in business of supporting Art from the grassroots!! You know dear I also teach art. I take my students to various art shows and encourage them to participate in them. In the next month my students are going to participate in art show that is going to be held at one of domestic event venues Seattle.
