A CALL TO BE PART OF HISTORY IN ART EDUCATION

The success of education reform depends on high quality professional development; improving the quality of teaching and learning in our schools requires that we provide teachers with time and resources for professional development. When teachers have opportunities to engage in dialogue and reflection with colleagues, share ideas, and collaboratively develop new teaching methods, schools and children reap the benefits.

The roles of Art teachers are vital in the field of CREATIVE ART because they influence the next generation of creative minds and they also play major roles in developing the inspiration for many young artists to pursue career in the arts.

To this effect my organization, ART SCOUT have packaged an art teacher developmental training programme tagged “ART TEACHERS CONNECT in a serene environment that encourages and stimulate creative conversation and exchange of ideas towards improvement of quality of art education in Nigeria, transform the art teachers to increase their capacity and position them as change agents in their local communities. The ART TEACHERS CONNECT tends to reinvent the Art teachers and offer them the edge for excellence performance in teaching profession.

Pablo Picasso said “Every child is an artist; the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”. My dream is for Nigerian kids to have access to quality art education through a competent art tutor who will help them maximize their God’s given talent.

CAV GHANA 2013, MY EXPERIENCE

Every child has some artistic ability and with the right environment and guidance they can discover their inner creative genius. CAV GHANA 2013 was another given opportunity to help the kids develop their artistic talents and a chance to help make a difference and to be a part of progressive community. I am proud to be part of the team and the project where we hosted more than hundred kids to a week “SUMMER ART CLASSES”. The classes run between 12^th and 17^th of August, 2013 with a great team of nine creative instructors and facilitated classes in ballet (dance), traditional African dance drama, and visual arts.

Creative skills help children to cope with the change, communicate successfully and have great ideas, and more to that I believe Art changes lives. It is both a powerful means of expression and a recognized means of therapy. Art engagement is a rewarding platform to promote children's development and well-being such as providing them with a creative means of expression.

This year summer Art classes at the Village of Hope Orphanage, Ghana was incredible success. Many thanks to the wonderful team leader, Mai, you’ve been my inspiration many times and has always been a great time working with you. I look forward to be part of more of such project in no distance time, maybe soonest, as I am so passionate about children’s talent development with a deep desire to inspire an artistic future in a child.

I AM MARRIED!!!

Finally after a long wait for it, the status has changed, I am married. And not just that, I am favoured because I have found a wife. The one I could call my inamorata, an epitome of the perfect queen, a worthy wife to have, my jewel of inestimable value and a blessing to the throne of Adeniyi, the ruling family of Ijaka-Oke in Yewa land.
